2. SBP – Summer Bridge Program

Scholars at the UIC Quad

The Summer Bridge Program (SBP) is a one-week, on-campus experience for incoming scholars. During the SBP, each scholar is paired with a student ambassador. Ambassadors are academically talented juniors and seniors who might be leaders of professional societies and clubs. The SBP offers a Makerspace experience in which scholars take part in prototyping products. The SBP incorporates field trips and seminars, including visits to science museums. Seminars are conducted by professors from various engineering departments and representatives from campus services/facilities, covering topics such as motivation and learning strategies for college success. Scholars will participate in daily reflection sessions to contextualize their experiences.

The following activities are the SBP (Summer Bridge Program) components. They have been divided into six main categories including lectures, workshops, field trips, hands-on, team challenges, and evaluation. The final part is the Appendix which all documents can be found there.
