Field Trip to the Museum of Science and Industry
Scholars visited the MSI at Chicago to explore the applications of engineering solutions to real world problems
Students from the UIC S-STEM program recently visited the Museum of Science and Industry (MSI) in Chicago, where they delved into real-world problems and explored innovative engineering solutions. The MSI offered a vast array of exhibits that showcased cutting-edge technology and engineering marvels, providing students with hands-on experience with engineering principles and their applications. Students engaged with interactive displays, such as the Science Storms exhibit, which replicates natural phenomena like tornadoes and tsunamis, and the Transportation Gallery, which features historic planes, trains, and automobiles that highlight the evolution of transportation technology.
Through this field trip, S-STEM students gained a deeper understanding of the role of engineering in addressing global issues. They saw firsthand how engineering principles are applied to solve real-world challenges. The museum's exhibits, such as the U-505 Submarine, provided unique insights into the engineering feats that have shaped our world. This trip inspired curiosity and fostered a broader perspective on the possibilities and applications of engineering solutions, leaving a lasting impact on the students.
